Managed Hosting & Optimization
Hosting, monitoring, updates, backups, and continuous performance and SEO maintenance — with one person accountable for uptime.
How this works
Hosting is usually the cheapest line on a business's technology bill and the one that quietly causes the most damage. A site that goes down during business hours, loads slowly on mobile, or runs months behind on security updates is losing customers and rankings at the same time, and typically nobody notices until traffic has already fallen. Managed hosting through Drift Strategy Group means the infrastructure, the updates, the monitoring and the ongoing performance work are one person's direct responsibility instead of a bill nobody reads.

What managed actually means here
Most hosting sold to small businesses is unmanaged: you rent the server and everything above it is yours. Managed hosting means the operating layer, the platform updates, the security patching, the backups and the performance tuning are handled without you filing a ticket — and that when something breaks, someone already knows before you do.
That distinction matters most at the moments it is hardest to handle yourself: a plugin update that breaks a contact form, an SSL certificate that lapses, a traffic spike from a campaign, a vulnerability disclosure that needs patching the same week.
What is included
Uptime and performance monitoring with alerts that go to us, not into your inbox. Regular backups with a tested restore path, because a backup nobody has ever restored is not a backup. Security patching and dependency updates on a schedule. SSL managed and renewed automatically. A staging environment so changes are tested before they reach the live site.
On top of the infrastructure, hosting with Drift includes the ongoing optimization the site needs to keep its rankings: Core Web Vitals monitored rather than measured once at launch, broken links and crawl errors caught as they appear, structured data kept valid as content changes, and small content and technical corrections made as part of the retainer rather than billed as a project each time.
What the hosting actually delivers, in numbers
This site runs on the same setup we put clients on. Measured on its homepage: roughly 310ms to first byte, largest contentful paint around 1.6 seconds, 344KB across 26 requests. That is a lab run rather than field data gathered from real visitors, and it is the floor the infrastructure provides before any page-level optimization.
The number that matters more over time is whether it stays there. A site launched fast and left alone for a year rarely still is — images get uploaded at full resolution, plugins accumulate, third-party scripts get added for a campaign and never removed. Monitoring the number continuously is the part of hosting that protects the rankings the build earned.
Migrating an existing site
Moving hosting is a routine operation done carefully and a risky one done casually. A migration runs on a copy first, gets tested against the live site page by page, and only then moves DNS — with redirects, SSL and analytics verified before and after the switch, and indexation checked in Search Console in the days that follow.
We will also tell you when moving is not worth it. If your current host is performing well and the site is maintained, the honest answer is to leave it where it is and buy the optimization work on its own.
How it fits with everything else
Hosting is the layer that makes the rest of the work hold. A site that is built well, ranked well, then left unpatched and unmonitored for a year will drift back down — which is the whole premise the firm is named after. Build, host, optimize and report is one engagement with a monthly fee, not four separate vendors each optimizing for their own piece.
Pricing depends on the size of the site, the traffic it carries and how much ongoing optimization is in scope. It is quoted with the rest of the engagement after a free SEO audit, so you see what it covers before you commit to it.
Managed Hosting & Optimization, frequently asked
What's the difference between this and regular web hosting?
Regular hosting rents you the server and leaves everything above it to you. Managed hosting means updates, security patching, backups, monitoring and performance tuning are handled for you — and that someone is already working on an outage before you notice it.
Can you host a site you didn’t build?
Yes. Migration is included: the site is copied and tested against the live version first, then DNS moves, then redirects, SSL, analytics and indexation are verified afterward. If your current host is performing well, we will tell you that instead of moving it.
Is SEO work included in hosting?
Ongoing maintenance is — Core Web Vitals monitoring, crawl errors, broken links, structured data validity, and small technical and content corrections. Active campaign work like local SEO or content production is a separate service.
What does managed hosting cost?
It depends on the size of the site, its traffic, and how much ongoing optimization is in scope. It is quoted alongside the rest of the engagement after a free SEO audit rather than sold as a flat monthly tier.
Am I locked in if you host my site?
No. You own the site, the content and the domain. If you leave, the site goes with you — hosting is a service, not a hostage arrangement.
